In the following privacy policy, we describe what personal data is collected and processed when using the LynxRun app and for what purpose.
1 Data collection: what data do we collect?
When using the LynxRun app, data may be collected, processed, and stored to ensure correct technical operation, enable app functionality, and manage user accounts and subscriptions.
Most data is stored locally on the user’s device. Only the data necessary for account management and subscription handling is processed externally.
No profiling or user-specific analysis is carried out beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
Users can restrict or disable certain data collection at any time via device or app settings.
1.1 User accounts and subscriptions
To use certain features, users must create an account and subscribe to a paid service.
For this purpose, the following data may be processed:
Email address
Account credentials
Subscription status and billing-related information
Subscriptions and payments are handled via external service providers (e.g. Apple App Store / Google Play or another payment provider). These providers process personal data independently in accordance with their own privacy policies.
The LynxRun app does not store full payment details such as credit card numbers.
1.2 Push notifications
The LynxRun app may send push notifications (e.g. service updates or important information).
For this purpose:
The device subscribes using an anonymous token via Apple or Google services
This only occurs with the user’s explicit consent
Notification delivery is handled by Apple Push Notification Service or Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which may process personal data under their own responsibility.
Users can disable push notifications at any time in their device settings.
1.3 Usage analysis
The LynxRun app may optionally collect anonymized technical data to improve stability and performance.
This may include:
App crashes and error logs
General feature usage (in anonymized form)
This data:
Does not identify individual users
Is used solely for technical improvements
Is not shared with third parties
Users can enable or disable this feature in the app settings.
1.4 GPS routes and activity data
The app records GPS-based route data to enable core functionality such as tracking activities.
This includes:
Location data during activity tracking
Recorded routes and timestamps
This data:
Is primarily stored locally on the device
Is only processed to provide the tracking functionality
Is not shared with third parties
Users can disable location tracking at any time via device settings. Disabling this may limit app functionality.
1.5 User-submitted content
If users submit feedback or contact requests:
The provided information may be stored and processed to handle the request
Providing personal data (e.g. email address) is voluntary
It is used only to respond to the inquiry if necessary
2 Authorisations (access rights)
The following permissions may be requested by the app:
2.1 Internet connection (mobile network / WLAN)
An internet connection is required to:
Manage user accounts and subscriptions
Synchronize necessary data
Access online services
2.2 Location services
The app uses the device’s location services to:
Track GPS routes
Display the user’s position
Location data is used exclusively for these functions.
Users can disable location access at any time in their device settings.
2.3 Camera
If applicable, the app may request access to the camera for optional features (e.g. capturing images).
The camera is only used when the feature is actively in use.
2.4 Sensors (e.g. compass, motion data)
The app may access device sensors to improve:
Route tracking accuracy
Orientation and navigation
3 Data storage and deletion
Users have control over their data:
Data stored locally is deleted when uninstalling the app
Files stored outside the app must be deleted manually
For account-related data:
Users may request deletion of their account and associated data
Upon deletion, all associated personal data will be removed unless legal obligations require retention
4 Disclosure of personal data to third parties
The LynxRun app uses personal data exclusively for operating the app.
No personal data is sold or shared for advertising purposes
Data is only shared where necessary for essential services, such as:
Payment processing (e.g. app stores or subscription providers)
Notification delivery (Apple / Google)
These third parties process data under their own privacy policies.
